Hlavička, Petr ; Dvořák, Tomáš (advisor) ; Císař, Ondřej (referee)
Master thesis Author: Bc. Petr Hlavička Field of study: Sociology Thesis supervisor: Mgr. Tomáš Dvořák, PhD. Year of submission: 2023 Abstrakct: English Abstract: In this thesis, I examine political power in political sociology. The aims of this thesis are to identify the direction in which contemporary research on power is moving and to produce a synthesis of the knowledge that emerges from the study of power. To do this, I use an understanding of power through the lens of political sociology, which studies the manifestations of power in society and how power and society interact. In order to achieve the goals of this thesis, I first summarize all of the starting points that have emerged historically in the study of power. I then explored the perspectives of contemporary authors using qualitative methods, specifically semi-systematic sampling, which allowed me to select the sample for the study, and thematic analysis. I described what starting points contemporary authors use in their research, how they view historical starting points, and what new starting points are emerging in the study of power. The thesis then also forms a chronological overview of where the study of power has gone.

Grobelný, Miroslav ; Ryšková, Mireia (advisor) ; Větrovec, Pavel (referee)

At the beginning we justified why to look for the inspiration in the life of Jesus Christ. Then we focused on Jesus' political principles. We treated conflicts between John the Baptist and Herod Antipas and conflicts between Jesus and political and religious leaders of his days. We focused mainly on the conflicts connected with the Jewish Law and paying taxes. Then we treated the conflict between Jesus and Pilate, which ended in Jesus' crucifixion. Then we briefly touched on the Paul's point of view and we mentioned several examples of the persecution of the Christians from the pagans. At the end we made an attempt to resume briefly what the New Testament says about the relationship of the Christians to the political power and we joined the short mention about the relationship between the Church and the state in the social doctrine of...

The Principles of Francisco Suarez's Political Power: Suarez's consent in the context of the theory of the social contract developing from 16th until 18th century
Koblížek, Jan ; Sousedík, Stanislav (advisor) ; Svoboda, David (referee) ; Altrichter, Michal (referee)
The Abstract The meaning of this dissertation thesis is to find out whether we can regard Francisco Suárez as a representative of the social-contracting theories developing in the period from 16th until 18th century. Suárez, who is more likely known for his metaphysical disputations, gives a really sophisticated formulation about the origin of the common society and the political power, where the key point is the word of the social consent. At the first time it seems that Suárez can be without difficulty considered as a modern period humanist like Thomas Hobbes, John Locke or lately Jean-Jacques Rousseau. As well as they, Suárez thinks that the independent human will has its unsubstitutable part in the origin of the political society. Nevertheless there is a large difference. While according to the mentioned humanists, the independent will is the only principle of the political power, Suárez thinks that this will is just the necessary condition meeting the human nature created by the God, that it is the true principle of the whole political power. Suarez's meaning of the social consent is then situated in the theological framework and is closely associated with the words of the nature and the transcendence. The result is that Suárez understands the state as a natural and moral organization and not as a...

It is focused on their influence on political decision-making process, which is expressed by the influence of elite on reigning Naṣrid dynasty. It examines the elite denomination in contemporary Arabic written sources, their links and delimitations. These were mainly common economic and power interests. On the basis of the ǧāh pyramid it focuses on each aspect: Sovereign as a source of legitimacy of political power, the vizier as a major counterpart to the ruler, the inner circle of emir in which was concentrated the remaining part of the political elite, and also the Naṣrid women. Vizier, as the most significant part of this group, was eventually transformed to the role of regent and ruler's public representative. From the early 14th century with his power he began to tie the sovereign's power itself and he took over it almost permanently in the 15th century. The emphasis...
